How could an immortal God reach mortal people? What possibilities would you come up with?

Yes, of course, God could appear to each person and explain everything to them individually. Or He could appoint a person in every generation and culture to be His messenger, who would then explain everything to their fellow human beings. Or He could invent a medium that outlasts time and is accessible to all those who are open to the divine message.

The invention of writing, a milestone in human history, created the possibility for such a medium.

If there really is a God who has revealed Himself to His creatures, then certainly in the beginning, where people who knew about God would have shared their knowledge of Him orally. However, this type of communication was susceptible to alteration, distortion, exaggeration and mystification – a problem that has always arisen in human communication.

What if God inspired the invention of writing so that man could compose texts that were much less subject to change? Writing was invented in the Orient around 5000 years ago. The Semitic alphabet was created around 2000 BC. The earliest texts of the Old Testament were written about 500 years later. The history books of the Old Testament are therefore younger than the great myths of the Orient.

If there really is a God who wants to reveal Himself to people, with an unchanging revelation – what better idea could He have had than to have Scripture invented?

God had this scripture written down by people whom He inspired. He did this by showing Himself to them or talking to them.

So what does this Holy Scripture look like?

The OLD TESTAMENT consists of almost 40 different writings, all of which were written in pre-Christian times. In it we find the history of a people that God had chosen so that the world should know about Him. We find books of wisdom, teachings, prophetic statements and predictions. Everything in the Old Testament is focused on the arrival of the Messiah. The Old Testament shows what man has lost and points to the one who would restore it: Yeshua ben David (Jesus), in whom God embraces the whole world.

Then, the NEW TESTAMENT, written in the second half of the 1st century AD, reports the fulfillment of all that the Old Testament had announced. In its 27 writings, it tells of the deeds of Jesus, who gave His life to give life to all others who were marked by death. And it describes the movement that Jesus started, which we now call the church. It presents a new way of life; it speaks of the future of eternity that awaits all who love Jesus.

We call this collection of writings, the Old and New Testaments, the „Bible.“ Christians believe that God gave it to people so that they could learn how to escape death and find the eternal life for which God originally created them. It is an infallible revelation of God's will and divine intentions. It is the source of our ethics. The Bible shows that we humans are not alone in the universe, but that we belong to a great whole that we should support harmoniously.

If God has indeed written us this "letter", He means to address you personally, not merely humanity in general. Since He has written this letter to you, don't you want to know what He has to say? God has found a way to reveal Himself to you. So take it and read!
